Music Share | “Incomplete feat. Adia”-Deitrick Haddon’s A Beautiful Soul Soundtrack

The next single released and making impact on radio, from the Deitrick Haddon presents Voices of Unity, A Beautiful Soul-Music Inspired by the Motion Picture is “Incomplete ft. Adia.”  This heartfelt tune carried by cellos and violins, boast of the yearning to stay connected to something greater than yourself; without it you are left incomplete.  “Imagine a symphony with no strings…life without death…if God never sent His Son to save us.”  Once the pulse of the drums enter, they seem to lift the darkness of the track, leading you to the realization that we don’t have to live a life of searching for things/people to complete us…all we need is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!   Up and coming artist, Adia delivers a passionate vocal with a sense of urgency to get those lyrics into our hearts and mind.  Though, Adia sounds great, I can’t help but to wonder what the vocal bible herself, Brandy would sound like rendering this selection.  Yet, Adia really grabs your attention and leaves you wanting to hear more from her.  Check out the track below and let me know what you think!  Deitrick Haddon’s A Beautiful Soul DVD and CD are both available in stores now! Pick them up and support the kingdom!!

Since released in theatres, fans and supporters have been waiting to purchase this inspiring film to view at home and share with family and friends.  Countless positive reviews have poured in about A Beautiful Soul’s message from media, fans and many of the cast members.

The film industry trade magazine, Variety, summed it up in this manner: “In what is probably the first-ever mashup of Charles Dickens and R&B, “A Beautiful Soul’ stars gospel singer Deitrick Haddon as a bling-wielding, self-centered Scrooge whose wakeup call arrives via a bullet, and whose redemption involves a divine iPad (with an app for after parties past, present and yet to come) by which he learns to change his ways.”

Haddon’s intent for viewers to understand the importance of genuine love and why we must often reflect on our personal journeys was well communicated throughout the film.  A Beautiful Soul also stars, Harry Lennix, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Golden Brooks, Robert Ri’chard,Lesley Ann Brandt, and Barry Floyd.  In addition to being released on DVD, the film is scheduled to air on TV One later in 2012.   A Beautiful Soul PG-13 Rated Film on DVD is now available in stores and online.  Check out the Trailer for A Beautiful Soul.

Also, currently available in stores and on-line is the Tyscot Records CD release of “A Beautiful Soul” (Music Inspired by the Motion Picture) from Deitrick Haddon presents Voices of Unity, which contains original music by Deitrick Haddon, Kierra Sheard, Canton Jones, Fonzworth Bentley and Faith Evans, among others. Featuring the gospel radio single, “No Betta” a duet showcasing Deitrick Haddon and Faith Evans.

We’ve Wondered, Now Deitrick Haddon Speaks About His Marriage To Damita

Well, we no longer are left wondering and making assumptions as last night Urban Gospel artist, Deitrick Haddon, laid to rest all of our thoughts.  He shared that his marriage to Damita is over and has been for some time (via his facebook):

“Many call me a man of God. I say i’m a good man trying to serve a great God the best i can..If i was that powerful of a Man Of God i would still be married 2 Damita. I’m learning to have balance because you can win & lose @ the same time! It’s possible to work so hard & be so driven that u lose everything! I pray that in the future i find the balance of ministry & family! Damita’s doing well & I’m doing fine! Her new cd is amazing. We both are staying true to the call on our lives. Unfortunately not 2gether anymore. I don’t believe in sharing my personal but i think it’s important 4 people to know that in your pursuit of ministry don’t lose family! Don’t be alarmed we’re doing fine. This is very old news for Damita & i but brand new news 2 you. We’re private people! We have moved on! Last i will speak on my personal: Our breakup is NOT recent! It’s been well over a year process. We have both repented & moved on! Damita & i have worked hard in ministry..Blessed many while bleeding ourselves! God is with us both but no longer as a couple!OK…I’m very private about my personal life..You probably won’t get me 2 ever speak on this again unless God make me share.”

I’m sad to hear this, but…yea…I myself have wondered what was going on for the past year and prayed about it, so yea, there it is.  Keep them in prayer as both Deitrick and Damita are still keeping up with hectic music ministries and such.  I recently got a chance to meet and talk with Damita, I so wanted to ask her about the situation, but that was not my place nor would it have been appropriate.  But she seemed okay and was her usual smiling and humble self, plus she’s just really dope peoples!  Deitrick just arrived back from touring Africa (again) and is prepping to promote the DVD release of A Beautiful Soul  and Damita has released her 3rd solo album, Anticipation! So support not only monetarily their projects, but most importantly keep them lifted up in prayer!

Deitrick Haddon’s “A Beautiful Soul” Soon To Release on DVD

After a successful major market theater run, “A Beautiful Soul” starring urban gospel artist Deitrick Haddon is set to release in DVD format on August 21, 2012.  I did not get a chance to check it out in theaters, but loving Deitrick’s first film “Blessed and Cursed,” I can’t wait to get A Beautiful Soul! Check out this press release sent to I CHOOSE GOSPEL, of actor Harry Lennix ( The Five Heartbeats, Ray, Stomp The Yard) talking about his experience of working on the film:

The success of the Tyscot/Man Haddon film Deitrick Haddon presents..A Beautiful Soul can also be contributed to its all star cast.  The cast included actors such as, Vanessa Bell Calloway, GoldenBrooks, Robert Ri’chard, Barry Floyd and Harry Lennix.  The entire cast gave their all from beginning to end and since released in theatres, they have expressed their love for the film to various media outlets.

Cast member, Harry Lennix, who played the role of “Jeff Freeze”, (Andre Stephen’s manager) in the film discussed how he became involved in the film, his role, working with Deitrick Haddon and more with Blackfilm.com:  “The initial inquiry came from my friend Holly Davis Carter, who’s a dear friend I’ve known for many years and know to be associated with quality projects.  Then I read the script and thought it had tremendous appeal, a cautionary tale for our modern times, and also had resonances to movies from the past like “It’s A Wonderful Life”. So I was interested from the first time I heard about it.”

Harry Lennix also explained the difference between his role as “Jeff Freeze” and his role as “Red” inThe Five Heartbeats“I play a character by the name of Jeff Freeze. I’m the manager for Deitrick Haddon’s character and just a kind of smooth Hollywood operator.  Red is a far more malevolent figure than Jeff Freeze. Jeff is an operator but he’s not a pariah.”

Throughout his career, Lennix has worked with many actors, but this was his first time working with Deitrick Haddon.  Harry Lennix shared his thoughts about Deitrick’s music and working with him on the set of A Beautiful Soul- “I had not heard Deitrick’s music before working with him. As soon as I found out that I would be working with him I went to YouTube and found some tracks he’d done and was immediately impressed. At first I thought I was listening to Prince, he’s got a piercing voice like a clarion bell; he’s got a very clear voice mechanically speaking. To put that kind of voice onto inspirational music is a revelation. I think he’s a trendsetter. I don’t know a whole lot about modern Christian music, but having been a seminarian once I thought that he has tremendous potential to get this word out to a lot of people who are so in need to hear it. I have a great amount of respect for Deitrick, I’m very fond of Deitrick, and it was great working with him. He was a top-notch professional and all he wanted the entire time was to do the best job he could do.”

Lastly, Lennix stressed the importance of films like A Beautiful Soul reaching the masses, “There’s a need for content. The success of “Think Like A Man” shows that there’s an audience for the content, and I think “A Beautiful Soul” will prove the same thing. We are very sanguine about the potential for this movie to get into the national consciousness. We want to be responsible for making these images of ourselves, and who better to do it than people who are like-minded.”
